Toddler Teaching Philosophy

I believe that each child, infant, toddler and older, are each unique and has the potential to leave their own mark on the world. My philosophy would be to provide a stimulating atmosphere in which infants and toddlers can grow and mature in many areas including emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually while in a safe environment. This environment will not only be safe, it will allow children’s curiosity to direct their learning, promote respect for things and people, and help the teacher guide the children. Caregiver Role

As a caregiver, part of my role is to foster the love of learning and self discovery in infants and toddlers. To do this, meaningful opportunities that are relevant to a child’s life and interests need to be provided. I believe that it is important to provide activities that will encourage infants and toddlers to explore individually and with each other and their teachers. I also believe that it is important to help foster a sense of trust in children at an early age and encourage them to be an explorer and self learner by providing an environment that is safe, cognitively challenging and nurturing emotionally. A caregiver should allow time for children to explore individually and with a group, have time for uninterrupted play, and provide limits and expectations that are consistent and clearly defined. Infant/Toddler Curriculum

The curriculum for infants and toddlers would have a loose structure that incorporates various activities to stimulate development in the areas of sensory, creativity, language, and motor play. Ideally, I would have the children learn about themselves and the world around them through explorations, social interactions, and play. These experiences would be safe, stimulating and supportive while promoting each child’s individual development and optimal potential.
