INTRODUCTION
Life span development is a field of study that examines pattern of growth ; change and ability in behavior that occur throughout the entire life span .The life span is usually divided into the broad age groups :the parental period(the period from conception to birth) ; infancy and toddler hood(birth to age 3) ; middle childhood(age 6 to 12) ; adolescence(age 12 to 20) ; young adulthood(age 20 to 40) ; and late adult hood (age 60 to death). 1 Life span development specialist discuss development in several topics: physical development (development involving the physical makeup, including brain, nervous system, muscles senses and need for food , drink and sleep );cognitive development (development involving the ways that growth and change in intellectual capabilities influenced a person’s behavior) ; personality development (development involving the ways that enduring characteristic that differentiate one person from another change over the life span) ; and social development (the way in which individual interaction’s with others and their social relationship grow ; change and remain stable over the course of life).1 Growth assessment is essential because almost any problems with the physiologic, interpersonal and social domains can adversely affect growth. No one can replace the parent’s role in the life of her children. The outlook that the child will form towards life depends a lot on the parents. His attitude, views, goals, perspective on life etc depend to a larger extent on what he learned from parents. What a child learns in the initial years always have a lasting impression on his mind so good parenting is very essential. The World is changing, in 1968 only 21% of the mothers with a child less than 1 year old were labor force; in 2002, this number was close to 60%. A number of Federal Policies ,the family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Temporary...
