2.1. Describe with examples the kinds of influences that affect children and young people’s development. Children are influenced by many factors but the strongest one is theirs parents. Parents are the first people to interact with, they are the first playmates. When time go on and another years passing parents are still a big influence and example for their child, so the parents are influencing the most and they are controlling the ways in which the child will grow and develop. Parents want the best for their children, so they try to protect them. Sometimes the parents are overprotective and hold their children back from exploring the world around them. In this case parents preventing children form learning and progressing. Children should be given an increasing amount of freedom while they growing up allowing them to learn new things and meet new people increasing their physical, emotional and social development. 1. One of the example on how the children development can be influenced is that parents can go throw divorce or separation and that can be very traumatic for a child. 2. Children of one-parent families may suffer as a single parent may not work or work long hours, leaving the child with little support and open to bullying, or possibly no male role model to look up to. 3. Children may become part of a step family, where a new partner may have children of their own and that could lead to friction between the children and unhappiness for the child being picked on, leading to issues of low self-esteem and lack of confidence. Proper nutrition can have a impact on a child’s development physically and psychologically. Calcium is needed to develop healthy bones and teeth, and protein and fats are necessary to give a child energy and help to grow. 1. unhealthy eating can lead to obesity and other negative effects if the child does not learn how to eat healthy early in life.
