a. Lisa often gets frustrated when trying to play with other children. She takes toys from their hands and even hits children with the toys. The outline of a specific plan for addressing discipline/guidance is on the method using Creative Curriculum with an integration of DAP (Developmentally Appropriate Practice). The first strategy would be to channel the child’s emotions by connecting with the child’s feelings of emotions. . For example, have the child draw a picture of why she is so angry and why she likes to hurt other children. My classroom design is on Creative Curriculum because it has objectives on social/emotional development, physical development, cognitive development, language development, literacy development, mathematics, science and technology, social studies, art, and when needed English language acquisition. The strategies DAP uses lets our children show how to model from one another, demonstrate each other by respecting their values, and creating and encouraging questions to have challenges placed amongst us. Positive relationships and cooperation in small/large groups will develop, gross-motor and fine motor skills will develop and strengthen, complex language will develop through expressing thoughts and needs. When you have a child talk about her feelings you are talking it through and then use the “I statements” as soon as he gets in he will learn the routine. Children will cooperate and understand because choices were given, no power struggle for words, implement the DAP, and most of all be understanding. When both parents and teachers are developmentally appropriate in their teaching methods they are realizing the child is still developing their thinking and listening process skills. The children will learn to have healthy self-control limits, rules protecting physical health, safety for everyone, limits and respectful treatment. Effective partnerships with parents when addressing discipline/guidance is of utmost importance when the child is very young because it teaches the child responsibility, discipline for oneself at a early age, and builds daily routine habits which becomes embedded in ones character as he/she gets older. First of all, it is imperative for the teacher and parent to have open communication with one another by making a genuine connection to get to know the family. Parents also need to feel they are valued and respected by the teacher and staff. Team building in their child’s education is an effort on both sides not just the teacher. Parents would love to be proactive but in today’s society but with dual income workers it is hard for parents to be proactive at school. Genuine partnerships are formed through shared decision making, open communication with one another, and following directions together. As my mom always told me you can’t have a great meal without following the recipe. All it takes is one mistake by not following the recipe and the meal is a total flop or destroyed. The same issue with parents if they do not attend and engage with the teaching staff and bring it home to the house and family he will continue to be defiant, have no order, be dependent, irresponsible. It is never too late to start. Children will be more willing to follow rules and expectations of the teach without distracting one another. The key to success doesn’t stop at parents and the teaching staff, it continues on to school administration, community leaders, and relatives. The first obstacles is not following the rules the class made up by your peers. In some homes the child is probably the only child and is not use to sharing, never had playmates, always got what she wanted, and not use to losing attention. Time away works on some students but others seem to not let it affect them. The second obstacle is continual defiance for...
