Information system/Information technology is a very important sector in modern day’s business world. Without Information system a company cannot compete with other companies and that’s exactly what this report is trying to prove. In this report you can find exclusive information about Jamuna group of industries (Pegasus leathers). With help of porter’s five forces analysis the report has indicated the power and weaknesses of Jamuna group. The values chain analysis showed which sector they should improve on at the moment with a recommendation of which ISP they should use now. This report tells Jamuna group of industries what they should do in the future to gain competitive advantage.

An information system can be referred as a set of components which collects, process, store and distribute information to support decision making and support the organization. In order to support making decision, coordinate and controlling information systems may also help managers and workers to analyze visualize difficult subjects, problems and create new products. Oraganisations use these four level’s to make business decision, and with the help of IS it becomes whole lot easier. The types of IS are :- MKIS,HRIS,MRP,AKIS etc.And these IS are known as TPS(refers to transaction procession system,which is used for routine and transaction process.This is also known as back bone system for the organisation,it feeds data for other system for ex- MIS or DSS.)

Background of the case :

According to the jamuna company’s website, it is an evolving private company that has continually grown within the competitive industry in Bangladesh, Jamuna Group possesses high values, but the most crucial value of the company is its human resource . The name, Jamuna group is inseparably associated with the name of Mr. Md. Nurul Islam. He created jumanua in 1974 with mission and vision of being one of the biggest private sector in bangladesh. Jamuna’s first project was Jumana Electric manufacturer Co. Ltd in 1974,and since then it has dominated the electrical market of Bangladesh, it then went to created more succesfull sector such as jumana textile,leather and the most recent on was south east Asias’ biggest shopping mall called Jumana future park . To maintain its competitiveness in todays globalized modern market, Jamuna introduced the best technology along with machinery and expertise in Bangladesh. Jamuna developed and expanded its enterprises of multi-dimension for diversifying its product range. In course of 34 years of operation Jamuna Group expanded into a giant dynasty of 24 large scale enterprises.From textile to real estate,Jamuna Group has diverse business interests. Over the thirty four years of operation, the Group has ventured into electrical, engineering, chemical, leather, garments and textiles- including spinning, knitting and dyeing, cosmetics, toiletries, beverages, real estate, housing, print and electronic media sectors.
