Part 1 Motivation

‘Teamwork is a joint action by a group of people, in which each person subordinates his or her individual interests and opinions to the unity and efficiency of the group.’(Webster's New World Dictionary). During the several months study and experience in the HRM team and make up of team, I was able to understand the meaning and importance of teamwork. If a team wishes to success, it means being highly efficient, particularly in the performance of teamwork. So, motivating in a team is a potential element that affects its performance and individual’s behaviors under the working conditions. At the same time, members cooperate and help each others in the teamwork, which improves personal ability. In this essay, I will recall my experiences and behaviors in the teamwork, and explore the negative and positive impact on a team. I will also evaluate the role of motivation in team performance. Finally, I will analyze how to strength team member’s motivation and several significant factors on which it depend.

It is not always easy to encourage members and achieve the team’s objective, which is a case in my team. Our first experience of teamwork was when we completed the trail and found the answers to the questions on the quiz, so we needed to go to central Exeter and find the answers together. I had caught a glimpse of the task sheet when I got it and then told my team we would search them via Google. The rest of team thought it was very simple work because of my judgment. However, some of them sent e-mail to correct my plan three days later, and I knew I made a mistake. We had wasted a weekend which is the best time to finish it. Because of this I exert a negative impact on our process of work. I had learnt a lesson from the failure.
